Book Review: Moments From The Life, Death, and thereafter of elliot grant

An Utterly Unpredictable Dystopian Tale

Quick Thoughts:

I went into this book with no info but what was on the blurb and I can confidently say it was one of the most unexpected reading experiences I’ve had in a long while. Winter crafts a dystopian tale that eschews all the predictable tropes and story beats and keeps you guessing at every turn. His story is offbeat yet engaging, full of a sort of hopeful consideration for the potential of humanity you rarely see in this genre.

Full Review:

Winter takes big swings with this one. It is ambitious, aiming to bring the reader to both emotional and philosophical extremes. The story moves along quickly, never stopping to hold the readers hand nor soften the emotional blows. Rather, it is concerned with getting to the meat of the ideas play here. A fantastic example of how far you can go within a genre that is often plagued by a collection of overdone tropes and character types. The kind of breath of fresh air that makes you look up from your book and wonder why more authors aren’t taking chances like this.

If you’re looking for something off the beaten path, I would highly recommend you give this novel and this indie author a shot. It is incredibly difficult to review a novel like this without getting into heavy spoilers, I would not want to ruin that experience for anyone. Sufficed to say, tt’s without a doubt worth checking out for anyone interested in taking an unpredictable journey that will push you outside your reading comfort zone. It stuck with me more than I was expecting and takes the trophy as my most unexpected read of the year.
